Isaac Daye's Report Following trip to Liberia/Sierra Leone

This is the latest report from Isaac Daye....

"The Apostle Paul escaped ship wreck on number of occasions yet he did not give up making mission trips, traveling from Kenema to Kono in Sierra Leone on Saturday 13th December 2008 a distance of 79 miles that should have taken a little over three hours but took us over eight hours, we narrowly escaped car wreck when the jeep we traveled with broke down five times in less then six hours and eventually, give up the right hand front tire in protest that it could not endure the roughness and rockiness of the bad road. At one point we had a breakdown in the middle of a tick jungle and waited for over an hour for repair work to be done on the jeep by the driver and his conductor and Ron used that time to share our mission with a police sergeant and a Muslim resulting in their enrollment to study Godʼs word with WBS. Often after going through these dangerous mission trips one is inclined to say that is my last time but the joy of our labor and the saving of souls far out weight our personal safety and comfort and this compares us to keep on going. Lordʼs willing we will be back on a similar mission in November 2009. My luggage was left behind in the Gambia and for the entire two weeks I was gone I had to borrow clothe from Brother Ron who was willing to share everything he had that was helpful to me even including one of his Bible. At one point Ron said ʽSatan have been at work against us on this tripʼ that is how he summarize all the pains we went through battling against mosquitoes, lack of electricity, standing for hours waiting for bus or cap,ect ect. Love demands that we make sacrifice and for us sacrificing the comfort of our home, time and life is worth the result the Lord blessed our trip with: 41 souls baptized into the body of Christ, 25 in Sierra Leone and 16 in Liberia also in Sierra Leone we conducted the first graduation of a part time Bible school that we support materially and over 40 WBS students graduated at our 4th annual graduation in Liberia. Over 3,000 new enrollments to study with WBS were made in Sierra Leone. Are these not compelling reasons why we must continue making these mission trips and for you to keep on praying for and supporting us? I will appreciate an answer from you. Joining me two year after his last visit Brother Ron was overwhelm with the number of church building project we have undertaken and the progress. St Paul bridge received $3,250 from me provided by Center Street church of church and Bro Chad, KONO CHURCH BUILDING IS COMPLETED THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF MILFORD HEIGHTS AND CENTER STREET CHURCHES OF CHRIST $5,000 WAS RAISED AND PROVIDED FOR THAT WORK( PICTURES ATTACHED) AND THE MOST RECENT CHURCH BUILDING PROJECT AT ISAAC DAVID TOWN CHURCH OF CHRIST HAS RECEIVED A TOTAL OF $850 FOR THEIR FOUNDATION. ON GOING WORK AT WEST POINT AND BREWER VILLE ARE AT ADVANCE LEVEL GLORY BE TO GOD THAT AS THE CHURCHES IN LIBERIA REBUILDS WE ARE PARTNERING WITH THEM THANKS TO EVERY ONE WHO PARTNER WITH US IN PRAYERS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT..

Isaac Daye in Monrovia Liberia

I just received this letter from Isaac Daye this week. He is currently in Monrovia, Liberia and before that was working in Sierra Leone....

"The Lord have been good unto us on this trip and this is brief report; 8 graduated in Kono fromn school of religoius studies,25 baptism in sierra leone and 9 got baptised today in Liberia, all these good news have not come without problem,my luggage was left by the airline in Banjul on the 9th December when we flow to Freetown meaning I have been on this trip without my Bible, lessons I prepared, the medicines,DVD player for the showing of passion and every indication from Banjul indicates that my bag is missing. I need prayers from you and all the saints for safety and my return to the Gambia,we hold our annual WBS graduation in Monrovia on saturday and a seminar at st Paul Bridge church of Christn tommorow."

It is always exciting to see fruit in West Africa. As one can see, things can be very difficult often times in that part of the world. Isaac has not had his luggage since he left The Gambia on December 9th! But I know this...Isaac will not quit the work no matter what obstacles he encounters!

The Reyes Family Report

This is the latest update from Erik and Jenny Reyes in Sucre, Bolivia. As you can see, Jenny has had some serious health problems lately. Please pray for them!

Craig

"As I was sharing in the team letter. It has been a GREAT month. Our schedules are overflowing and we are thankful to God for the growth he is causing. I feel like we are trying to work smarter.. We are half a team right now.. and there is so much work. We are excited. I continue to disciple some of my close Christian friends in the church weekly with one on one discipleship and it is going just GREAT! We are focusing on personal evangelism.. because like I said we are trying to work smarter. These girls are focusing on reaching the lost in their prayers, in meditation, reading, memorization of scripture that they can use in sharing the gospel, and activities to help them put into practice their growth. It is going really good and we are all encouraged. These ladies are ones I´ve talked about in previous reports. Carla Duran, Mary Solis, Marta Solis, and Sintia Santos. Erik is working his heart out. He has been such a strength and friend to me during this time. God has given me a wonderful husband. For three days this week he took care of me while I was in bed/bathroom with another intestinal infection. He juggled taking care of me, work, the babies and cooking. I don´t know what I would do without him. He even took Mia with him to his Bible studies. We didn´t go to the hospital this time.. I resisted (would rather not) and so Erik called Dr. Ernesto that goes to church and lives a block from us. Dr. Ernesto came to our house at 3 in the morning and waited with me until a taxi brought some injections from a pharmacy. He gave me two shots to stop the nausea fainting and vomiting. I lost an unpleasant 10 pounds in 3 days, not fun at all. I am so thankful to God that Dr. Ernesto is in the church. I don´t know what we would have done. God is good. Please pray for us with our fights with the bacterial infections here.

Many friends that we have been sharing with have been coming to church. Vicky and Jhonny and their two babies (Valeria and Fernanda), Faysalette and her two children (Valentina and Mateo), also Juanita, Daniel, Fabiola and her daughter Orieta, and Rita.

We did a little Thanksgiving dinner, (without turkey no turkey was here) but we did what we could.. (missing the cranberry sauce and pumpkin) but I made a zapallo pie.. kind of the same. But here is what was embarrassing, we celebrated it a week too early and found out later we had done it on the wrong Thursday. So embarrassing, but I guess it´s not our fault since we´ve only met one other couple here from the States, and we never bump into them… so how were we to know. It was still a good thanksgiving chicken and zapallo pie eaten a week too early, with our close Bolivian friends. Ha ha.. We´ll try to get Christmas on the right date this month.

This week Erik had a wrap up study with some of friends that we have been sharing Christ with for a long time. They have said that they are ready to give their lives to Christ. We`ve made preparations for Faysalette, Sonia, Weymar, and Daniel to have their baptisms tomorrow. We hope that it will be a day of GREAT celebration.

Thank you for all you do. We miss you, The Reyes family

PS. Today is Monday two days after Jenny wrote the reports. Yesterday we had two new babies in Christ, Jose Moises and Isabel. Good news they have been studying for months, we believe they where ready in the past. I know taht there is always fear of failing God. Eventhough we teach about His grace... Anyways thenk you for your prayers... "

Report from Isaac Daye

Following is the most recent report we have received from Isaac Daye( missionary to The Gambia in West Africa)...

Habakkuk The prophet foresaw the days when the knowledge of Godʼs glory will flood the world as the waters covers the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 God flooded the anti antediluvian world with water from beneath and above our question how is He going to bring about this global flooding with the gospel. Not by speaking from heaven or causing a literal rain of His word from heaven but by the preaching of the gospel by His church. Hence the church is Godʼs Vessel to flood this world with His word to cover the world with the good news as the waters covers the sea. To flood the world with Godʼs word is an enormous task but praise God that He have provided multiple methods, means or strategy to make this mission possible-Radio, Tracts, Mission trips, gospel meetings, seminars Bible Correspondence ect, ect. To make sure that Godʼs word is establish in the Gambia by His church, we are using the airwave to preach the gospel to thousands mostly Muslim as 90% of Gambians are Muslim, we are flooding the land with tracts, depicting the true of the gospel by showing the passion of Christ in different localities in and around serekunda . Our goal is to Cover Africa smallest nation with the word of God as the waters covers the sea and the results have been mixed. During tracts distribution some received gladly and others reject and insult us, for our radio broadcast, many compliment the forcefulness and truthfulness of our massages and say Gambia needs such preaching. Passion continues to draw huge crowd everywhere we air it and this is opening for us new contacts for personal work. With all the labor we put into the spreading and preaching of the gospel, the Lord added one soul at Central, two at Kanifing and 10 enrolled for WBS. As you know that our mission crosses borders too, Alexander Ofori,Ron and I will be traveling to Sierra Leone on a week long mission trip after which Ron and I will proceed to Liberia for more work and we need your prayers. I wish to offer special thanks to all our supporters and sponsors that we have not allow the economic slow down in the US and across the globe to slow our vision and mission down, even thought we have experience some little drop in response to our appeals in recent times but to God be glory that we are stay on course with the great commission

PEACE.ISAAC K. DAYE

Please continue to pray for Isaac and the work he is doing!

Christian School in The Gambia

Isaac Daye just returned to West Africa last week. He spent the past few months here in the States doing work with WBS and generating sponsorships for the school in the Gambia. We now have a total of 138 students sponsored for this school that Isaac and his team began just a few years ago. The name of the school is the "Living Childrens's Academy".Last year they had a total of 102, so the sponsorships have grown significantly this year. Their goal is to add a new grade level each year until it is a full blown high school. I have seen this school firsthand and know that this is a great work for the Church. We have sponsors from Bella Vista, Fayetteville, and Prairie Grove, Arkansas, as well as from Zion, Illinois, Lewisville, Texas, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Ohio. This is a very worthwhile endeavor and anyone who is interested in helping a student receive a year of education at this Christian school in West Africa can contact me at

September Report from Sucre, Bolivia

It has been a long time since I have posted anything here. I am putting the latest report from Sucre, Bolivia here for all to read. Keep this country in your prayers as they are experiencing some unrest at the present time....

September 2008

This month has flown by. It is good that we (the team) is able to be together again. The work has been challenging, but fruitful in that God continues to work in our hearts and in the hearts of those present in His Kingdom. We continue to focus on PRAYER as one of our main ministries.. and God has continued to provide, and to bring a peace that passes all understanding in midst of trials and doubts. The country is continually unstable. Roads being blocked, marches, peace talks, airlines canceling flights for days or weeks.. but we continue to focus on what God has brought us here to do. There may be days or weeks at a time where there is no way in or out of Sucre, which is kind of disturbing to think about, but we know that God has us here for a reason. Over all, Sucre has been very peaceful in comparison with other States in the country.

Thank you for your prayers, and concern. It means so much to us to receive your calls and letters and advice. Thank you for making it possible for us to be here.

With much love and thanks, The “SUCRE TEAM”

Isaac Daye in Fayetteville

Isaac Daye is currently here in Fayetteville for a couple of weeks. This is such an exciting time to be reunited with him! His zeal for the Lord is second to no other person that I have ever met. We have spent some time together talking about the work that is taking place in West Africa. We have talked about the importance of helping various congregations with their building projects for 2 reasons:

1. Many congregations do not have a good place to worship. This becomes a tremendous problem during the rainy season as they are unable to stay dry without a roof

2. By assisting these congregations in need, our West African brethren are able to see and believe our commitment and love for them in their work. Isaac has informed me that there have been other mission teams in the past that have travelled to Liberia and witnessed firsthand the tremendous need for places of worship. Unfortunately, certain teams have returned home only to "forget" what they had witnessed. By assisting these congregations with funding for their buildings, we will in turn have more credibility as their brethren and will in essence be "proving" our love for them. This will open more doors for us as we return to their country.

Although I feel like we are doing all we can to assist these Christians, Isaac DID ease some of my discomfort by telling me that at least we are doing SOMETHING. He also encouraged me to try to continue helping them (however little it might be at times) until their structures are completed. So this will be part of my goal,to keep trying to help them have decent places to worship.....

July Report from Sucre, Bolivia

Following is the monthly report that I received from Erik and Jenny Reyes in Bolivia( They are currently here in the U.S. and will be coming to Fayetteville to report in person to us on August 10th):

This month the Reyes have been gone to the States for furlough and everyone in Sucre is missing them. I know they will get to see many of you and that it will be a blessing for all. The end of the month saw many of the university students leave for winter vacation and whenever they leave the whole town looks a little emptier, the pace slower.

We are still trying to get internet at the church building so we can offer courses, but at every turn there seems to be another road block. Please be praying about this. Pancho went to San Ignacio to visit a missionary there. The Church here is looking into supporting him as we really want to be a mission minded church. Hopefully the missionary will be able to visit us when the Reyes return.

God Bless,

The Reyes' family

Mission points

1.We had a terrific time in Stafford, Kansas this past week! Our crew consisted of just over 40 people including children. We participated in several projects that I will be sharing with the congregation in the very near future. All of us who participated were blessed by the brethren there through their hospitality, kind words, and hard work to make the team effort a success. It was so encouraging to watch our members use their individual talents for the glory of God. Thank you to all the members that worked to make our trip successful, thanks to the parents who allowed their teens to go with us, and thank you to our elders for supporting this effort!

2. Our elders recently made the decision to send some financial assistance to 3 different congregations in Monrovia, Liberia. Each congregation is receiving a one-time contribution of $750 to assist them in the construction of their buildings. Our team that travelled to Liberia last year had the opportunity to work with all 3 of these congregations and to witness firsthand their need for assistance. They were the Brewerville, West Point and New Georgia congregations.

2. Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 10th because that is the night that Erik and Jenny Reyes will be here in Fayetteville to report on the work in Sucre, Bolivia. Erik will be doing his presentation on Sunday night during the evening services and then we will have a finger food fellowship following his presentation. This should be a good opportunity to visit with Erik and Jenny to learn more about the work that they are involved in, as well as a time to give them encouragement to continue their efforts for the Kingdom. They will only be in Fayetteville for a couple of days, so you will definitely want to be present Sunday night to talk with them. They will staying at the home of Keith and Ana Caselman.

3. Isaac Daye will also be here on that same Sunday evening to worship with us and to fellowship with us. He will be speaking the following Sunday evening, August 17th and giving us a report on the work in West Africa. He is supposed to be arriving in Fayetteville around August 4 and will be here until around August 18.

Stateside mission

It is just over 2 weeks until we will be travelling to Stafford, Kansas with a group of about 30 people from Center Street. You may recall that my family and I visited there a couple of months ago to meet the congregation there and talk with their leaders about this effort. Time has almost arrived! This will be our 3rd such mission effort in which we go into a community and combine service projects with Vacation Bible Schools as we try to support the local church in it efforts to teach the gospel. This will be our first time to take the youth group along as part of our team. Jake Greer, our summer youth intern will be escorting them on this trip. We are extremely excited!
