Preacher/Minister Job Description Position Summary
The Center Street Church of Christ minister will be experienced and will be knowledgeable of the Scriptures with the talent to preach, teach, and equip the Church for discipleship and service. He will be a devoted follower/disciple of Jesus who is passionate about helping others live and grow as disciples and make other disciples of Jesus. His life should demonstrate a passionate faith in God, a strong commitment to the Lordship of Christ, the leading of the Spirit, and the authority of the Scripture. The Pulpit Minister, under the oversight of the elders and as a member of the ministry team, will work and support the vision and mission of the Center Street Church.
Duties and Responsibilities
Pulpit Preaching:

Prepare and deliver scriptural sermons that are applicable and inspiring

Prepare and deliver Bible based sermons that are balanced from the OT and NT, with an emphasis on a deeper understanding of the scriptures and practice of the NT church

Willing to be a active partner with the elder-ship on identifying relevant topics

Preach the majority of Sunday services
Teaching:
-
Teach Bible classes as assigned and approved by elder-ship and education committee

Teach edifying classes that motivate and promote spiritual growth and maturity
Discipleship/Evangelism and Community Outreach:

Lead in training and equipping members to be actively discipling others

Participate in developing and leading outreach efforts within the community

Effectively engage membership in activities that benefit the community and promote outreach opportunities with an evangelistic focus
Family Care:
-
Visit the sick and shut-ins
-
Provide spiritual guidance and counsel for members and others in regard to their spiritual wellbeing. Difficult cases should be referred to trained Christian professionals

Officiate and perform weddings, funerals, and other type venues as requested
Administrative:
-
Serve and work as a team member with other office personnel

Actively participate in meetings with the elder-ship to facilitate effective communication and coordination of objectives and activities

Prepare bulletin articles and use social media effectively

Maintain regular office hours as agreed upon with the elder-ship

Communicate with elder-ship and staff when absent
Leadership and Modeling:
-
Serve as a ambassador for our congregation by welcoming outside guest speakers, ministers, etc. and extending hospitality to them and introducing them during our public assemblies

Attend and support the majority of congregational events and activities

Attend and support all worship and Bible class assemblies unless using a personal or sick day

Positively communicate from the pulpit information and plans of the leadership
